Welcome aboard Drukair. The past two months have been very eventful for Drukair as we continue to identify and respond to changing demands. It gives me great pleasure to inform you that on June 4, we welcomed the ATR 42-500 as the third aircraft in our fleet. As is the custom in Bhutan, the ATR 42-500 was received in a traditional ceremony, following auspicious time and date. The ATR is a state-of-the-art aircraft and was chosen in keeping with the highest standards of comfort and safety. It will enable us to meet the rising number of travellers visiting Bhutan.

The Dhaka, Bangladesh, station is now connected with the Departure Control System (DCS). We have been constantly upgrading technology and staying abreast with innovation at all our destinations to ensure safe and efficient service.

Drukair also initiated the first charter flight from India under an agreement signed in February with Make My Trip, India’s largest online travel company. The agreement was for a bi-weekly flight up to June but will be extended depending upon the response from Indian visitors.

As this is the lean season for tourists, our focus, as always, shifts to Bhutanese travellers. This season too, we have special student packages and low season discounts to make travel that much more affordable without compromising our service.

This year, we hope to increase our connectivity by expanding our international network. This is intended to not only bring new destinations to the Bhutanese but also facilitate more inbound visitors as envisaged by the government.
